Follow Up Georgia

Georgian Team Follow-Up Activities – MEDIAMIND Project

Following their impactful participation in the Erasmus+ project "MEDIAMIND" in Pissouri, Cyprus (March 22–30, 2025), the Georgian team has demonstrated outstanding initiative in their dissemination and follow-up efforts. Recognizing the importance of promoting media literacy and combating misinformation within their local context, the team organized both online and offline events that successfully engaged youth and broader community members.

Their follow-up included an online discussion (May 12, 2025) with over a dozen participants, focusing on the Erasmus+ experience, fake news, and practical tools for critical media consumption. Building on this momentum, a face-to-face workshop (May 21, 2025) further deepened dialogue and inspired interest in future Erasmus+ involvement. Through these interactive sessions and additional social media campaigns, the Georgian participants ensured that the core messages of the project resonated beyond borders—raising awareness, fostering community dialogue, and encouraging youth-led initiatives in Georgia.

Online Discussion on Media Literacy and Erasmus+ Experience

  • Date: May 12, 2025
  • Platform: Google Meet
  • Participants: 13-15 people

As part of our Erasmus+ follow-up, our group of four organized an online discussion on May 12, 2025, via Google Meet. We shared our experience from the training course in Cyprus and talked about media literacy, fake news, and how these issues affect our local context.

The participants, mostly students, were highly engaged and curious. Some even asked how they could join similar projects, apply for Erasmus+ programs, and create youth initiatives themselves. Their interest and enthusiasm made us feel excited and proud, as our main goal was to inspire and inform others and it was clearly achieved.

In addition to the meeting, we also shared our reflections and feelings on social media platforms to reach a broader audience. These posts included photos, impressions, and key takeaways from the project, helping us to further disseminate what we learned.

Following Workshop on Media Literacy and Erasmus+ Experience

  • Date: May 21, 2025
  • Platform: Auditorium
  • Participants: 12 people

Following the success of our online discussion, we organized l in-person meeting to continue the conversation around media literacy and the Erasmus+ experience. These face-to-face gathering provided a more personal space to exchange ideas, share experiences in depth, and build stronger connections within our local community.

Participants engaged in discussions about identifying misinformation, understanding media bias, and using critical thinking when consuming digital content. We also explored more opportunities within Erasmus+ programs and how young people could take an active role in promoting media literacy.

These sessions not only deepened the dialogue started online but also allowed us to brainstorm ideas for future collaborations. The enthusiasm and engagement in these physical meetings reinforced the importance of addressing media literacy in both virtual and real-world settings.

Evaluation from Participants

Elene kutalia

From March 22 to 30, 2025, us, Georgian Team of four, participated in an Erasmus+ project in Pissouri,Cyprus focused on media literacy and fake news, a topic highly relevant both in Georgia and internationally.

The organisational aspect of the project was excellent. the InfoPack was detailed, and the communication channels (Facebook, WhatsApp) kept us well-informed and engaged.

The PDA was implemented successfully, with meaningful and interactive activities that encouraged daily participation. Although the follow-up activities felt intensive, they were rewarding, we managed to hold an online meeting with around 15 people, including both students and older generations, to share our experience.

I wouldn't suggest any major changes, except for making the project a bit longer. I truly enjoyed every part of it and would gladly participate again if given the chance. The experience was incredibly enriching, both personally and academically.

Bachana Lortkipanidze

From March 22 to 30, 2025, I had the opportunity to take part in an Erasmus+ project held in Pissouri, Cyprus, focused on media literacy and the issue of fake news. This theme felt especially timely and important, both within the Georgian context and internationally also. The program was very well organized from start to finish. We were given clear materials and schedules in advance. Activities were structured, and each day offered a variety of sessions that kept us both informed and actively involved. One of the most valuable aspects for me personally was the chance to meet people from very different cultural backgrounds. Over the course of the project, I built genuine friendships and got to learn firsthand about the lives and perspectives of others. This intercultural exchange was incredibly eye-opening and made the whole experience even more meaningful. I would gladly join a similar project again in the future.

Otar Tvaliashvili

From March 22 to 30, 2025, I participated in an Erasmus+ youth exchange project in Pissouri, Cyprus, which explored the topic of media literacy and misinformation. The subject matter was not only highly relevant in today's fast-paced digital world but also felt particularly significant in the context of my home country, Georgia.

The project was exceptionally well-coordinated. Prior to our arrival, we were provided with clear instructions, schedules, and resources that helped us prepare. Each day was thoughtfully planned, combining learning sessions, group discussions, and interactive activities that kept participants engaged and motivated.

One of the highlights of the experience was the multicultural environment. Working alongside young people from different countries gave me the chance to gain insights into various worldviews and daily realities that differ from my own. These exchanges, both formal and informal, broadened my perspective and made the learning process feel more alive and meaningful.

Overall, this project gave me more than just knowledge—it offered growth, connection, and inspiration. I would absolutely recommend this type of experience to others and would be eager to join another Erasmus+ initiative in the future.

Salome Khatchapuridze

In late March 2025, I had the privilege of participating in an Erasmus+ project in Pissouri, Cyprus, centered on the theme of media literacy and the spread of fake news—an issue that resonates strongly not only in Georgia but around the world. The topic was highly relevant and provoked deep reflection throughout the entire program.

From the outset, the organizational aspect of the project stood out. We received all the necessary materials and information ahead of time, which helped set clear expectations. The daily agenda was well thought out, with a balance of theoretical discussions and interactive, hands-on activities that encouraged active participation and dialogue.

What truly made the experience special for me was the opportunity to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. Sharing ideas, stories, and perspectives with participants from other countries created a space for mutual learning and understanding that went beyond the formal sessions. These exchanges added a deeply personal dimension to the project, and many of the friendships I formed during the week remain important to me.

Looking back, I am extremely grateful for this experience. It helped me grow both intellectually and personally, and I would enthusiastically take part in similar projects in the future.

Logo Design

Creating a logo for "MediaMind: Critical thinking in media literacy development" requires blending the key elements of media literacy, critical thinking, digital security, and youth empowerment. Here's a step-by-step approach to design the logo:

  1. Conceptual Elements:

    • Media Literacy & Digital Security: Symbols like a shield, book, or magnifying glass.
    • Critical Thinking: Brain or light bulb.
    • Youth Empowerment: Abstract figures or symbols representing growth and learning.
    • Connectivity and Information Flow: Network lines or digital icons.
  2. Color Scheme:

    • Blue: Represents trust, security, and intelligence.
    • Green: Symbolizes growth, learning, and safety.
    • White: For clarity and simplicity.
  3. Typography:

    • Modern and clean fonts to represent clarity and forward-thinking.

Now, let's create a logo sketch using these elements and then refine it for a final version.

Expected Results

In summary, ""MediaMind" stands as a testament to the transformative power of digital literacy in addressing societal challenges, creating a lasting impact on the lives of the participating youth and their communities.

Expected results.

The project aims to enhance media literacy, foster critical thinking, and bolster digital security among youth workers. Recognizing the dual existence of individuals in both the physical and informational realms, the project addresses the opportunities and challenges presented by modern media, including the Internet and social networks.

The digital environment, though rich in possibilities for self-education, creativity, communication, and professional activities, is also fraught with risks, dangers, and its own set of rules. Media literacy is positioned as a crucial skill, comparable to written and computer literacy, to safeguard individuals from the adverse effects of harmful content such as media viruses and disinformation, as well as manipulation of consciousness.

The foundation of "mental immunity" is identified as critical thinking and media literacy, acting as a protective shield against information viruses and guiding individuals in navigating the media sphere responsibly. The metaphorical "umbrella" is introduced as a tool containing the knowledge and skills necessary for modern individuals, including critical thinking, structural and structureless management, immunity to media manipulation, information flow management, media literacy, and media hygiene.

The training course is designed to equip participants with the expertise to distinguish between harmful and useful information, combat the propagation of negative habits, understand the basics of self-regulation, explore external factors influencing worldview, and empower them to create their own information platforms for exchange.

Ultimately, the project seeks to empower individuals to navigate the information space effectively, fostering resilience against harmful content and manipulation while promoting positive engagement with media platforms.

Main Idea of the Project

This project is aimed at improving the level of media literacy, developing critical thinking, and improving the digital security of youth workers. People live not only in the physical world, but also in the world of information. Modern media (Internet, social networks) provides great opportunities in terms of self-education, creativity, communication, and professional activity. But at the same time, this environment is, to put it mildly, unsafe, it has its own laws, rules, its own dangers and risks, its own predators and its own victims. Media literacy is an essential requirement for a modern person, along with the already familiar written and computer literacy, since in the context of the widespread spread of the Internet, only media literacy can protect a person from the negative effects of harmful content (media viruses, disinformation) and manipulation of consciousness. If your body is exposed to a virus or disease in everyday life, then the human psyche is being attacked in the information space.

Critical thinking and Media Literacy are the basis of "mental immunity", which protects against information viruses and helps to interact correctly with the media sphere. You can learn to distinguish harmful information from useful information and protect your psyche with the help of an "umbrella", which contains the knowledge and skills necessary for a modern person: critical thinking, structural and structureless management, immunity to media manipulation, information flow management, media literacy and media hygiene. It is these knowledge and skills that participants will be able to master as part of the training course.

As part of the training course, participants will learn about critical thinking algorithms, learn how to distinguish useful content from harmful one, how to combat the propaganda of bad habits, learn the basics of self-regulation, study external factors affecting the worldview, and create their own information platforms for information exchange.

Relevance to Erasmus + goals is evident, as the project enhances key competencies and skills of young people, fosters intercultural dialogue, promotes active citizenship, increases learning mobility opportunities, encourages enhanced cooperation, and reflects on activism as a powerful democratic practice for young change-makers.

"MediaMind: Critical thinking in media literacy development" is more than a project; it is a journey towards empowerment, understanding, and unity.
